Observer Hotel - No 69

The Observer Hotel, a three storey brick hotel, was built in 1848 as a six room public house. The
hotel features prominent Edwardian pediment and recessed balconies. The originally owner was Robert White who ran
the hotel for nearly thirty years. Following his death in 1875 the hotel was placed into the hands of trustees
Benjamin Palmer and Thomas Moore. The hotel is said to be haunted by a Mrs Grindall, the republican who was

Victorian Shops - No 75

The Victorian shops were built in 1883 for Alexander Cormack who was an importer. The crown resumed
the property in 1901. In the 1980's the building was refurbished by the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority. The
three storey building features an ornate stuccoed facade and projecting cornices.

The Old Police Station is located on George Street North in the inner city area of Sydney in New
South Wales. It was designed by Colonial architect James Barnet in neo-classical style. The facade was completed in

Fortune of War Hotel - No 137

The Fortune of War Hotel is located at 137 George Street and claims to hold the longest continuous
